ABOUT THE EXPO
The Teach Students Money Expo is an immersive financial education experience designed to equip middle and high school students with real-world money skills through hands-on learning and interactive decision-making. Hosted by the West Palm Beach Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., this Expo brings a proven, award-winning model to Palm Beach County for the first time, empowering young people to confidently navigate financial life ahead.
In Palm Beach County, families and students face rising costs and financial challenges from an early age. Financial literacy is essential not only for individual success, but for community strength and long-term economic stability. This Expo empowers the next generation with practical tools building confidence, promoting responsible decision-making, and helping students chart positive financial futures.
-
Experience EightVille: A realistic financial simulation built to reflect real economic conditions.
-
Make Real Decisions: From choosing housing to paying bills and deciding whether to save or spend.
-
Learn from Experts: After the simulation, students meet with financial advisors to reflect on their decisions and expand financial understanding.
-
Build Lifelong Skills: Budgeting, saving, understanding credit, and prioritizing financial goals.

Our expo combines the National Standards in Personal Financial Education by the Council for Economic Education (CEE), the Jump$tart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy (Jump$tart), and Florida’s State Academic Standards for Social Studies 9-12 Financial Literacy Strand. By the end of the expo, students will:
-
Reflect on how their values affect financial decisions and respect others’ perspectives and experiences (SS.912.FL.1.1).
-
Compare careers, evaluate how your education, skills, and interests affect your income, and understand how cognitive biases affect your financial decisions (SS.912.FL.1.2 and SS.912.FL.2.1).
-
Recognize financial challenges and risks, develop strategies to prevent or cope with them, communicate effectively, and seek feedback and advice about your financial decisions and needs (SS.912.FL.3.1 to SS.912.FL.3.5).
-
Analyze the impact of your spending and saving habits on your financial goals and adjust your behavior accordingly. Appreciate the benefits of financial literacy and express your interest and motivation to learn and improve your financial skills and knowledge (SS.912.FL.4.1 to SS.912.FL.4.5).
