International Day of the Girl Child 2025
On October 11, we join the United Nations in observing International Day of the Girl Child, a day dedicated to recognizing girls’ rights and the unique challenges they face worldwide.
This year’s theme, “The girl I am. The change I lead: Girls on the frontlines of crisis,” spotlights the remarkable ways girls are stepping up, leading, and making a difference even in the toughest times. It’s also a chance to celebrate their resilience, strength, and leadership. For IDGC 2025, we want to amplify girls’ voices by creating a Girls Declaration of Change, shaped by the thoughts and dreams of girls ages 4–18.
We invite you to sit down with your daughter, granddaughter, niece, cousin, godchild, student, or any young girl in your life and talk about:
-
How are girls leading change?
-
What do girls bring to the table as leaders?
-
What obstacles keep girls’ voices from being heard?
-
What would help girls step into leadership?
-
What does “The girl I am, the change I lead” mean to you?
Once you’ve had this conversation, please share her responses on our online Padlet bulletin board or fill out the card included in the IDGC25 Package and send it to us at intlawareness.wpbdst@gmail.com by October 31, 2025. Let’s come together to honor and uplift girls everywhere—because their voices matter, and their leadership shapes our future.
WORLD AIDS DAY
In recognition of World AIDS Day, the West Palm Beach Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is proud to support a community outreach effort to raise awareness and promote prevention in the fight against HIV/AIDS. The event will offer vital resources, free condoms, health information, and more—all aimed at empowering individuals with the tools for healthier lives. Together, we are making a difference.
SUPPORT THE GIRLS
Support the Girls is a service initiative focused on collecting gently used or new bras to benefit survivors of human trafficking. All donations will go to the Free the Girls organization, which empowers women by helping them start sustainable businesses selling donated bras—offering a path to economic independence and restored dignity.
